About
xcpustate displays CPU activity as coloured bars, with one bar per logical
CPU on Linux. It was originally written by Mark Moraes to monitor a Silicon
Graphics Iris 4D/240, and later maintained by John DiMarco. Its copyright dates
back to 1988; the version preserved here is 2.9 from 2006.
This version includes fixes for modern compilers, RPC libraries and Linux CPU/disk statistics.
The default CPU colours are:
- Blue: idle, including I/O wait.
- Green: user programs.
- Yellow: programs running with a positive nice value.
- Red: system time, including interrupts and virtual-machine steal time.
